OUR 13 STEP INTERIOR DETAILING PROCESS
Learn about how we clean and detail the interior of your vehicle.
1) PREPARATION
Before we begin the interior detail, we remove any remaining trash and objects from the inside of the vehicle. We ask that our clients remove everything from the vehicle beforehand: excessive trash, car seats, etc. Just like on the exterior of the vehicle, we use a top-down approach when detailing the interior of your vehicle.
2) Full Interior Wipe Down
The first step of our interior detail is to completely wipe down the interior of the vehicle with a microfiber cloth and cleaning product. We start with the pillars in the front and work our way down to the dashboard. This step is to pick up all the loose dirt and dust before we scrub each area with our detailing brushes.
3) Glass Cleaning
After the full wipe down, we’ll clean the glass interior. We first spray our glass cleaner into a microfiber cloth and wipe down the window, removing the grease and grime. Then we’ll spray the window directly with the glass cleaner and use a squeegee to clean the glass. We’ll use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to buff off any remaining glass cleaner, leaving your glass invisible.
4) Dashboard Scrub
After the initial wipe down and glass cleaning, we spray the dashboard with our cleaning solution that is specifically designed for a vehicle’s interior materials. We use our detailing brushes and scrub pad to remove any ground in dirt and grime and remove with a dry microfiber cloth. We make sure we go over all of the gauges, vents, buttons, and clean the screen of fingerprints. Unless specified by the client, we will NOT clean out the glovebox. Usually, the glovebox is home to important paperwork that you wouldn’t want to get thrown out, so we avoid the glovebox unless specifically instructed by the client that it is okay.
5) Steering Wheel Scrub
After the dashboard has been cleaned, we’ll move our way to the steering wheel. For extra dirty steering wheels, we’ll use our degreaser instead of our interior lather product. The reason for this is because the degreaser is specifically designed to remove, well, grease. The grease from our hands gets trapped in the texture of the leather and stitching of the steering wheel. After we scrub the steering wheel with a scrub pad and our stitch brush, we’ll wipe it dry with a microfiber cloth, leaving behind a fresh clean steering wheel.
6) Center Console Scrub
From the steering wheel we move down to the center console that separates the front seats. We’ll use the vacuum to suck out any loose dirt from the cupholders. Like the glovebox, we normally do NOT clean the inside of the center console unless given explicit permission by the client. The center console compartment is another small storage area that usually houses important documents or items. Once all the loose dirt is removed, we’ll use our interior lather along with our detail brush to clean off the center console, gear shifter, and cup holders.
7) Seat Vacuum
After the center console, we move to vacuuming the front seats. We’ll make sure to adjust the seat and lay it as far down as possible so we can vacuum up the trapped dirt in the seat and seams. Then we’ll reposition the seats as close to where they were. After vacuuming the front seats we’ll move to the back and vacuum the rear seats.
8) Plastic/Rubber FloorMat Scrub
After the seats have been vacuumed, we move to the floor of the vehicle. We keep the floor mats in until this point to collect any dirt that may have been knocked down from our previous cleaning steps. It’s a lot quicker to shake the mats out and then go over it with the vacuum than it would be to vacuum up the excess dirt. For carpet floor mats, we’ll vacuum the mats and set them either on the seat or on the driveway while we move onto the next step.
9) Carpet Vacuum
At this stage we have finally reached the bottom of the vehicle. We start at the front of the vehicle, making sure we vacuum the footwells, and then move the front seats all the way back. This allows us to vacuum under the seat more effectively. Then we’ll move the seats all the way forward and vacuum the rear floor. Once the rear has been vacuumed, we move the front seats back into their original position.
10) Stain Spot Removal
Once the vacuuming has been completed, we’ll go back and spot clean any stains we may see throughout the detail. Depending on the age of the vehicle, we may skip any stains on the headliner to prevent any potential damage or cause for drooping. We will discuss this with the client during our initial walkaround of the vehicle.
11) Door Trim Scrub
The last part of the interior detail is to clean the interiors of the doors and door jambs. We’ll use our detailing brushes along with our interior lather to scrub the grit and grime, making sure to get around all the buttons. Depending on the amount of dirt on the arm rest, we may use a degreaser to cut through the built-up grease from your arm. The last part is the very bottom where there are usually lots of scuff marks from your shoes hitting it as you step into or out of your vehicle. Once the interior of the door is clean, we’ll quickly scrub and clean the door jambs, which are like the armpits of your vehicle.
12) Leather Conditioning
If our client elected to add this onto the detail, we’ll then use our leather mousse product to moisturize and condition the leather. We’ll apply the mousse all over the leather and let it sit for about 1-2 minutes before buffing it out with a microfiber cloth. This leaves your leather moisturized, protected, and with a matte finish.
13) Trunk Vacuum
Vacuuming out the trunk is another add-on for our interior detailing services. We’ll ask that the client removes everything from the trunk before we arrive. We’ll pop open the trunk and give the carpet a good vacuum. We’ll also do spot removals of stains if we come across them.
